Santos FC is currently down in the dumps. The Brazilian side sent the soccer world into disbelief after getting relegated from the first division for the first time in 111 years. As the atmosphere at the Brazilian soccer club remains gloomy, one of its former stars, Neymar, added a humorous touch to the narrative after he found himself at the center of a playful discussion about taking over the reins of his troubled old club.

Boasting a significant financial empire thanks to his illustrious soccer career, Neymar is living high off the hog. But with a few years remaining down the road being a player, can he buy his childhood club as a retirement plan?

Moments ago, Brazilian comedian Negrete posted a video with Neymar on Instagram. In the small clip, Negrete was taking a video selfie and asked Ney, “Imagine you and me at Santos?” Interestingly, the Al Hilal star joked, “I’m going to buy (Santos) and I’m going to sign you. Leave it to me!” Hearing this, Negrete reacted hilariously. The internet sensation also added a caption to the video saying, “You spoke, it was spoken, father [praying and laughing emoji]. Sadly, Pele’s legendary team, along with Sao Paulo and Flamengo, had been the only three teams never to have been demoted from the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. However, the coastal city team slipped down Serie B alongside America Mineiro, Coritiba, and Goias. Remarkably, even if Neymar hypothetically decides to buy the Peixe, it would be a purple feather in Santos’ cap. The 31-year-old can help his former side make a comeback to the top division. Nevertheless, for now, the striker must focus on his return from injury. Speaking of which, the player is recuperating from his cruise voyage.

Neymar is getting treated on his cruise trip

Days ago, Neymar embarked on a lavish 3-day and 3-night party cruise trip between the 26th and 29th of December. Despite being in celebration mode, the striker didn’t forget about his injury. Just hours ago, Al Hilal No. 10 posted an Instagram story where he was relaxing on the couch on the cruise. Aside from this, he wrote a caption, “Tratamento no role vale?” which translates to “Treatment on the ride, okay? [laughing and winking eye emoji]”

Notably, the “Ney en alta mar” (Ney on the High Seas) trip was introduced several months ago. It encompasses lavish celebrations, DJs, and the chance to revel alongside Neymar. Additional recreational activities are casinos, bowling, gaming lounges, a 4D cinema, a water park, a spa, a gym, and more. Significantly, the voyage commenced in Santos, with a scheduled stop in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro. Either way, let’s hope he parties responsibly.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
