So near and yet so far. We can understand that Neymar‘s journey at Al Hilal has gone haywire until now. The player arrived with an already-existing injury from PSG that kept him away from the UEFA Champions League last season. However, his subsequent injury that he suffered on international duty means much more than just missing out on Al Hilal’s games; it also means big records.

Al Hilal has been unassailable this season. The team has been on a rampage, taking out anyone who comes in its way. But to do it without their marquee player Neymar is a laudable feat. Neymar sustained an ACL injury in October that has pushed him out of the entire 2023–24 season. Halfway into the season, he has already missed out on so much!

The longest streak of wins in Al Hilal’s history

This is quite similar to the above milestone. Jorge Jesus broke the club record winning streak for Al Hilal with 19 wins in a row. The most successful club in Asia is setting new goals for itself, but unfortunately, it could not include its record-signing Neymar as a part of it.

Quickest to reach half a century

The Riyadh-based club has already reached 50 points on the Saudi Pro League table this season. But it has done it in just 18 games, making it the fastest team to achieve it. The team has hardly dropped any points from their matches. Out of the 18 games, they’ve just lost 4 points because of the 2 draws and still stand unbeaten.

Biggest victory in the Saudi Pro League

Al Hilal beat Al Hazem 0-9 on November 25th to set this outrageous record. The previous record was held by the defending champions, Al Ittihad when they beat Al Qadsiah 8-0 way back in 2011.

Jorge Jesus’ personal best record in his career

The 19-game winning streak also marks the most successful and longest one for the Portuguese coach in his 33-year career as a soccer manager. Even though it would not count for Neymar, he would have been a part of his manager Jorge Jesus’ tremendous personal milestone.

The veterans of the AFC Champions League have once again started their quest with 16 points in the group stages. This is also the record for the most points they achieved in the group stages. The blue side of Riyadh has already won four titles in the past and is looking to continue its dominance in Asia.

Longest unbeaten streak in 2023

Al Hilal is currently on a 27-game unbeaten run. This longest unbeaten streak for any club this year.

Nothing seems to be slowing Al Hilal down. Despite Neymar’s injury, other signings like Aleksandar Mitrovic and Malcom have stepped in to make up for his absence. However, it looks like the Brazilian is missing out on some valuable moments with the club other than his likely Copa America 2024 absence.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
