It seemed like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were living their El Clasico moments during the Nashville SC-Inter Miami tie. Messi scored a goal in the 52nd minute while Miami still trailed behind Nashville. Then in the 66th minute, he tried to knock in a lead-gaining strike, but it slipped away from Nashville’s goal. The moment he misfired, Nashville’s Anibal Godoy seemingly trash-talked him. An infuriated Miami skipper went chest-to-chest with Godoy.

The game was abruptly paused, as teammates from either side gathered around the rivaling stars. Fuelling the skirmish, Luis Suarez confronted Godoy for locking horns with Messi. The Uruguayan could be seen harshly pushing away the Nashville star. Besides, he kept pointing his finger at Godoy, implying it was high time the defender left the scene. Anyhow, other Inter Miami stars did their part to push away La Pulga and Suarez and keep the argument from escalating any further.

Lionel Messi attempted a goal in the 66th minute while a Nashville star was still on the ground. Perhaps that physical play infuriated Anibal Godoy to pick a fight with the Herons’ forward fleet. In the end, Inter Miami avoided a loss against Nashville after the altercation. Meanwhile, La Pulga overshadowed his generational rival Cristiano Ronaldo with his goal on the otherwise forgetful night.

It looked like Inter Miami succumbed against Nashville on the road as carried around a 2-goal deficit. Lionel Messi’s 52nd-minute striker was followed by the chaotic in-match fight and Miami’s misfiring woes. However, in the fifth minute of added time, Luis Suarez gave the Herons a breather, sending in a clutch strike. With the 2-2 draw against Nashville, Miami is now free of the pressure to overcome an aggregate lead at home in the 2nd leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup RO16.

Leo Messi, with his only goal of the night, became the fastest player to reach 825 goals in the game’s history. It took 1051 matches for La Pulga to scale this monumental peak. His arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, needed 1151 matches to surpass the 825 mark. Ronaldo now has 877 career goals.
