The soccer world is accustomed to the immaculate efforts of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for Wrexham. Ever since taking over the club in 2021, both have turned around the Welsh club’s fortunes. While their domestic success is enough to prove the Hollywood star’s splendid attempts for the club, their docuseries also reveals their peerless initiatives. Likewise, the release of the documentary also created some anxiety.

So far, Welcome to Wrexham has released its first season and it has already received a positive response from the soccer fraternity. Everyone loved the show, but the club’s manager, Phil Parkinson, reveals there was a lot of nervousness in the club following its release.

Recently, Phil Parkinson sat down for an in-depth podcast interview with Men in Blazers. During the show, the manager was asked about a lot of things. Somehow the talk of the club’s docuseries also came. When asked if he watched the show, the 55-year-old revealed he watches just three episodes along with his family. However, he then revealed that there was a lot of nervousness during its air.

“Listen, It was a bit nerve-wracking for everybody at the club because when those episodes were coming out, the next day we were training. You know it’s kind of thing, but there was always an element of trust with the producers and basically, we just decided to be ourselves. There can’t be any other way, because we wanted to be successful,” he said.

The gaffer praised the producers, insisting they followed the trust conduct while shooting the series. However, it’s quite surprising to hear that everyone at the club was anxious while the show was being aired and enjoyed by millions. Moreover, the show also went on to make new records and generate millions of profit for the Welsh side.

It is one of the most sought-after accolades in the television industry.

The award ceremony is scheduled for September 5th, and the show received the nomination in the ‘Factual Entertainment’ category. Alongside its popularity as one of the most-watched shows, the TV series also achieved an impressive $9.5 million in profit during its first season. Furthermore, the docuseries has also received six Emmy nominations. Indeed, the popularity of the show as well as the club continues to take a massive toll.
