If you need any proof of Lionel Messi and his impact on soccer in the United States, look no further. The Inter Miami superstar etched his name in record books once again. Miami’s latest game in the CONCACAF Champions Cup was the most searched game in the nation this Wednesday. Talk about being a needle mover!

According to reports, Inter Miami vs Nashville was the most searched sporting event in the United States earlier this week, with the game amassing over 200,000 searches on Google. While this is no ordinary feat, the value rises tenfold considering the competition the game was up against. Miami’s game is on the same date as Arsenal vs Porto and Inter Milan vs Atletico Madrid. To add more to their challenge, the NFL free agency also kicked in earlier this week, with fans eager to know the fate of some of the biggest Football stars in the United States.

However, despite the stiff competition, Miami’s midweek game emerged as the most searched keyword in the sports category. For reference, the famous reality show Love is Blind Reunion also aired in the same week, with the show getting over 200,000 searches on Google. Both the Love is Blind, and Miami vs Nashville tied for the second leading Google trend of the day in the United States. Meanwhile, the top of the chart was held by Paul Alexander, with the American paralytic polio survivor passing on the same day.

With the win in their bag, the team will now turn their attention to their MLS campaign. The Herons are currently on top of the Eastern Conference standings with 7 points from 4 games. The team will look to maintain their position as they take on D.C. United in their upcoming match this Saturday. Tata Martino and his men will have a tough challenge on their hands as the team could take to the field in their captain’s absence. However, the side has shown good quality this season and has what it takes to get a win over their opponents.
