Lionel Messi tied the knot with his childhood love, Antonella Roccuzzo, in 2017. The ceremony took place in his hometown, Rosario, Argentina. Many of his teammates attended the wedding of the then-five-time Ballon d’Or winner. However, it was Messi’s mom who stole the show that day by doing the unthinkable.

After being friends with Antonella since childhood, Messi had to move to Barcelona, Spain, to pursue a soccer career when he was just 13. But this didn’t affect the relationship between the two as they continued to be in touch.

The wedding took place amidst reports of a strained relationship between the families. Messi’s mom, Celia Maria Cuccittini, wore a “white frock” during the wedding. As per the Argentine tradition, they believe that the white color is only for the bride and no other individual should wear white.

Although Lionel Messi’s mom wore white color, the couple enjoyed the most important function of their life. Many of Messi’s teammates from Barcelona and Argentina joined them. The prominent names were Neymar Jr., Luis Suarez, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Dani Alves, and Luis Suarez.

On a professional level, she signed a contract with Ricky Sarkany in 2016. In 2017, she opened a Sarkany store in Barcelona with Sofia Balbi, Luis Suarez’s wife. It was the first Sarkany store in Europe. She is also active on Instagram and has over 20 million followers. Antonella has focused mainly on raising the three children. She is a cousin of Lucas Scaglia, Lionel Messi’s childhood friend, and was with him at Newell’s Old Boys Club. He enjoys his family life with Antonella and three kids.
