Manchester City once again showed signs of making a dangerous comeback this season with a 2-6 win over Luton Town in their FA Cup clash. The club, after their ace Kevin De Bruyne was back, saw Erling Haaland roar in confidence, scoring five goals in 58 minutes. However, the team had just one thing to worry about. Its left winger, Jack Grealish, has caught another injury, as confirmed by Pep Guardiola.

The player was taken off before halftime and was replaced by Jeremy Doku on the left wing. After the game, Pep stated in the press conference, “I didn’t speak to the doctor, but I think complaining about the groin is maybe quite similar; yeah, he felt really really good, but unfortunately was injured again at the beginning of the game”.

“Yeah, it’s been a tough season for him, so, have to recover well, and yeah, help us when it’s able to come back,” Guardiola concluded, with a hopeful tone. The player already suffered a similar injury a couple of weeks ago while playing against FC Copenhagen and was subbed off. It is slightly bizarre considering a similar recurrence in the Champions League game, where the Englishman was withdrawn within just 21 minutes of the start. Additionally, it was the same replacement as the previous one, Doku, leaving the player disappointed after coming off with an injury.

Meanwhile, the $139 million signing is having a pretty subpar season this time. Starting just 20 of the 41 games for City, Grealish scored just 3 goals and provided 2 assists this season. Earlier, it was reported that Guardiola needed more value from the former Aston Villa talisman.

The Spaniard insisted that Grealish pull his socks up to start regularly. Concerning Grealish, Pep said he can start more if he improves his game. “He has a special quality for our team. But it depends on him. Hopefully, he can do a good last three months,” said the manager before the game and later focused on players to get back into contributing to the team quickly after injuries.

It was pleasing for Guardiola to see Kevin De Bruyne back and kicking after a major hamstring injury. The Belgian provided four assists to Haaland yesterday, setting up a dominating performance. On the other hand, even Mateo Kovacic returned with a goal contribution. However, it now seems like just defender Josko Gvardiol and winger Grealish are facing setbacks.

On the whole, it remains to be seen what the treble winner will finish the season with, despite a few shortcomings.
