Most youngsters in the soccer world today have always been looking up to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for inspiration. A few lucky ones among them get to meet their idols. And a few luckier ones actually get to play with them. Inter Miami striker Robert Taylor is one among them. In a recent interview, the Finnish player revealed everything from meeting Messi for the first time to his on-field chemistry with the G.O.A.T.

Meeting arguably the greatest player in the world is nerve-wracking is imagination itself. Inter Miami’s Robert Taylor in a recent chat with Miami Herald revealed that it was a surreal but not an intimidating feeling when he first met Messi and Busquets owing to their gentle nature.

“Of course, the first time I saw Messi in the changing room, I was like, ‘Whoa, like, this is crazy,’ but I was never intimidated by him, or Busquets because they are such nice guys, always smiling,” revealed Taylor.

He however shared that it is certainly exciting for all players in the dressing room considering how much they have looked up to Messi. “Most of the players would agree that it’s just exciting. Everyone wants to play with the best players in the world,” said the Finnish striker.

So far, Lionel Messi has only played two matches for Inter Miami; but he has performed enough to give us all an idea of what his role for the team will be. Messi based on initial assessment looks set to play as a proper number 10 from the middle. Teammate Robert Taylor in his latest interview also confirmed this role.

“Most of the time he’ll find one of our teammates making a run for sure like making a run,” said Taylor on Messi’s chance creation duty. The striker also emphasized on the meteoric rise in the quality of chance creation thanks to La Pulga.

“He brings so much quality to the team. He is the best player in the world so this is what he does,” said the Finnish striker. Taylor must be commended for his brilliant assessment of Messi’s on-field duties. The youngster thanks to this knowledge has also reaped benefits as he scored 2 goals and 1 assist in synergy with La Pulga.
