Sports documentaries are currently in trend, especially in soccer. Be it Amazon Prime Video’s riveting ‘All or Nothing’ or FX’s captivating ‘Welcome to Wrexham,’ wide-ranging shows are being made for fans to see the never-before-seen part of the game. Now, the spotlight turns to Manchester City, as Netflix has secured the Cityzens’ glorious journey to a treble victory for a whopping seven-figure fee.

A few years ago, Pep Guardiola and Co. shot their exclusive All or Nothing. Now, the Premier League giants have reportedly struck a deal with Amazon Prime’s arch-rivals. As per writer Simon Bajkowski, the document is named ‘Together: Treble Winners’ and it will be available to stream on April 2 across the world. Likewise, journalists Jack Gaughan and Mike Keegan report it will be a six-part documentary series and will feature behind-the-scenes footage of the Cityzens’ 2022–23 treble-winning campaign. Interestingly, it’s been reported that Netflix is set to shell out a seven-figure amount to secure the rights to Pep Guardiola and his team’s story. That’s not all!

Furthermore, Manchester City has collaborated closely with the production team throughout an extensive editing phase. What’s more, the Sky Blues’ camera crew has been fully integrated into the inner workings of the first team, diligently capturing their journey throughout the treble-winning campaign. While this announcement is certainly exciting for ardent soccer fans who will get to watch yet another docuseries, it’s worth noting that Manchester City isn’t the first team to have their treble-winning season documented.

Manchester City isn’t pioneering the documentation of a treble-winning season

Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich has already ventured into the territory that is currently being explored by Manchester City. The German club embarked on its own Amazon docuseries titled ‘Bayern Munich: Behind the Legend,‘ which was released on November 2, 2021. It documented their journey throughout the 2020–21 season, during which they won the treble.

Aside from the challenges the Bavarians faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the series provided insights into the transition from outgoing coach Hansi Flick to his successor, Julian Nagelsmann. Notably, it wasn’t similar yet different from All or Nothing. After Bayern, City will be the second club to have its treble season documented. But instead of Amazon Prime, Netflix is doing the honors. Let’s see how the document turns out.
