Since then, he has been clinical for Phil Parkinson’s side. O’Connor’s transfer was a quick one, and recently his agent revealed how they got him hooked up with the club before signing him.

In a recent podcast with SportsJoe, Tom O’Connor’s agent, Stephen Hunt, revealed how Wrexham managed to sign the midfielder. He said he had “a player that had to drop down two divisions, but was rewarded with a contract.” But he rejected them, saying, “’No chance come back to me on another day, come back to me on some other player. And then they insisted on me hearing them out, to be fair, and it was Wrexham that had come in for him.”

He continued, “And he dropped down and didn’t get promoted last year and there was a little bit of me that felt, ‘Sugar, he’d be playing higher if it was’, but he bought into the bigger future of Wrexham and, and now it looks like a great decision because not only the financial side of things but the football side of things are massive down there now.”

It seems both are happy with the decision, as O’Conner has become a part of a massive history of Wrexham. In fact, it would be unlikely that Phil Parkinson will be looking to change his squad.

Phil Parkinson wants the same squad next season

Recently, Parkinson stated he aims to maintain the current squad. The gaffer looks to avoid making wholesale changes to preserve team chemistry and togetherness.

As stated by the Leader, he said, “That is what we have tried to do and now we have put a squad in place which has got us promoted, it doesn’t need major surgery to push on again. I feel we have got a lot of players who will be ready for next season which is good from our point of view.”

However, some trimmings are required in order to bring the best out of the team. Either way, it’s going to be a busy summer for Reynolds’ side. It will be interesting to see what have planned for the team.
