Manchester City secured an emphatic triumph over Bournemouth yesterday. However, Erling Haaland failed to register a goal or assist amidst his injury concern during the first half of the game. Hours after the game, Pep Guardiola shared a crucial update regarding the Norwegian star’s injury. While Haaland was substituted early due to his discomfort, the fans feared the worst.

The injury concern further added to his lackluster season with just 13 goals in 16 games as per the outrageous standards set by him. The lethal striker is far from emulating his goal-scoring prowess from his debut season with the PL giants. Consequently, this has brought CR7 to equal Haaland’s goal count of 2023 during this twilight of his career.

Erling Haaland suffered a twisted ankle after a collision with a Bournemouth player before halftime. The 24-year-old star was witnessed limping while making a run into the box during the game. Due to this, the Manchester City boss decided to withdraw Haaland as a precaution at the 3-0 mark of this Premier League match.

Guardiola was not convinced to risk his marque striker following his discomfort before their crucial Champions League match this Tuesday. In a press conference, he said, “Twist in the ankle, we didn’t want to take risks with him, he didn’t feel comfortable. He’ll be back maybe Tuesday but maybe next Sunday”. The Cityzen’s forward hasn’t missed a single UCL fixture in over a year, after sitting out against a group stage victory against Sevilla in the previous season.
