Ralf Rangnick: Jadon Sancho Didn’t Cause a ‘Single Discipline Problem’ at Manchester United

The long-awaited transfer of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund has garnered significant attention. Amid all the public chatter, former club manager Ralf Rangnick has expressed his support for the departing Englishman, offering a hugely contrasting perspective to his attitude and demeanor. His behavior was one of the main reasons why the ugly departure of the dynamic winger happened in Erik ten Hag‘s regime. However, Rangnick unhesitantly claimed that Sancho was a ‘calm’ guy.
Ralf Rangnick assumed the role of interim manager at Manchester United from December 3, 2021, until May 22, 2022, before Ten Hag took over. That was Jadon Sancho’s inaugural season as a brand-new player at Old Trafford following his highly-discussed transfer from Dortmund. After Sancho’s departure, following a lackluster two-and-a-half-year stint, Rangnick reflected on his experience managing the talented youngster. He stated, “In the six months I had him, there wasn’t a single discipline problem.”
The ‘cherry on the top’ moment was when the 65-year-old further added, “On the contrary. He is a calm and pleasant guy“. Rangnick’s statement stands in stark contrast to the recent narrative surrounding Jadon Sancho under ten Hag’s leadership. The Dutch manager had excluded the 23-year-old from training after Sancho voiced disagreement with his decision to exclude him from the squad.

The ensuing drama resulted in the Manchester United boss demanding an apology, which the London-born never provided. Consequently, Erik ten Hag has not included him in any matches since the end of August. That led us to today where Jadon Sancho has been loaned out to his former club, Dortmund. Interestingly, it appears that Erik ten Hag has moved on from the unpleasant matter, as indicated by his recent statement.
