It’s been a stuttering start for Brazilian superstar Neymar at Al Hilal. The former PSG forward, who broke Brazilian legend Pele’s goal-scoring record for Brazil earlier last month has endured a tough start to life in Saudi Arabia. However, Neymar has silenced the critics by ending his goal drought for his new club after scoring in the AFC Champions League against Nassaji Mazandaran. Now, the Brazilian forward has taken to social media to break his silence after scoring his first goal for Al Hilal.

Neymar couldn’t make his debut for Al Hilal at the start of the SPL season because he was nursing an injury that he picked up for PSG earlier in February. Nevertheless, he eventually did make his debut for the Riyadh-based club in late September and has now finally opened his account for the SPL outfit. Neymar received a standing ovation for his first goal for Al Hilal and took to Instagram and X to post a message from the Bible to thank the fans.

Neymar takes to social media to post Biblical message after first Al Hilal goal

Taking to social media to post about his first goal in the blue of Al Hilal, Neymar posted the message: “Genesis 28:15”. This was both on his official Instagram handle as a story and also as a tweet on X, as pictured below.

The passage ‘Genesis 28:15’ from the Bible reads: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Neymar’s emphatic strike against Nassaji Mazandaran was truly one to remember for the goal, the celebration and the ovation he received after.

Neymar rushes off the pitch to celebrate first goal for Al Hilal, receives standing ovation after

Neymar’s first goal for Al Hilal was a thing of beauty. In the 58th minute, after receiving a pass from midfield on the break, the ball was played into Neymar as it kept bobbling off the ground.

The Brazilian forward then struck the ball while it was bouncing with a fierce left-footed shot from just outside the box that flew into the bottom corner of the Nassaji Mazandaran net.

After Neymar scored he couldn’t contain his excitement and relief and jumped over the ad boards to celebrate off the pitch in front of the crowd as his teammates joined him. Al Hilal won the game 3-0 on the night after Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 18th minute while Saleh Alshehri scored in the 90+3rd minute, to add to Neymar’s goal.
