Amid the jersey retirement, she stated, “I have lived so much life in this jersey and I’m humbled to see it retire alongside me. It represents so much more than myself – a team, a city, and a lifetime of memories. Thank you to the Reign and to my teammates for the love, the support, and the opportunity to leave a piece of my heart on the field.”

The soccer player carried the nation’s hearts for almost two decades by wearing her heart on her sleeve. Notably, she debuted for the Seattle Reign in 2013 and appeared in 115 games. She took to the team like a duck to water, scoring 51 goals and creating 27 assists. Therefore, Rapinoe became the standout player for the team. The plaudits came in after her jersey retirement as Seattle Reign head coach, Laura Harvey, celebrated the momentous occasion. She stated, “It’s nearly impossible to put into words the impact Pinoe has had in this sport, the league, this city, and especially our club.” Harvey detailed the impact Megan Rapinoe showcased on the field, owing her success to her gritty determination and unbreakable character!

Likewise, the Seattle Reign general manager, Lesle Gallimore, gave her fair share of tributes as well. She stated, “The number 15 jersey will forever be remembered for not only the person who wore it, but for everything and everyone she represented along her journey with the club.”
