Manchester City’s defense was cut open by the RB Leipzig forward Luis Openda in the first halt not once but twice. However, in the end, the Premier League giants held their nerves to stage a brilliant comeback and win the game. Pep Guardiola was left totally puzzled after the hard-fought win for his team, however, he did admit that his players did not panic and remained ‘as relaxed as possible’.

The result shows that one cannot consider the Cityzens defeated in any situation. The Champions League title holders have shown time and time again that they can grind out positive results despite not being the better team for the whole 90 minutes.

Manchester City was shocked at home in the first half as they went down 2-0 to RB Leipzig. Any other team would have found it difficult. However, this Manchester City side is built differently as they ended up winning the game with a 3-2 scoreline. Pep Guardiola was asked for a reaction to the result. He said, “That’s the Champions League…We conceded too much defensively. You have to win the actions and we didn’t do it…We had to be as relaxed as possible and we reacted really well”. Pep Guardiola was certainly confident that his team deserved to win the game.

They had 14 shots as compared to 5 of the Bundesliga team. An 87th-minute goal by Julian Alvarez sealed the victory for the Cityzens. As far as Guardiola and Co are concerned, they will feel happy that they had a positive result. This result certainly confirms their qualification to the next round of the Champions League. However, this win will also give them confidence in their Premier League title fight. What’s the scenario? Let’s dive deeper.
