Erling Haaland‘s chances to win the Ballon d’Or look slim. Rumors suggest that Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or this year. Critics are now arguing whether it would be the right move to give Lionel Messi the award, citing Haaland has achieved more at the club level. Debating on the same line, a soccer analyst shares his take on the unjust nature of the Ballon d’Or.

Lionel Messi has become more than just a soccer player. He is an embodiment of what soccer has been for the past 20 years. The World Cup win completed La Pulga’s trophy cabinet but fans wish to see him crowned as the World’s Best Player one last time.

Soccer analyst and pundit, Rory Jennings shared his take on Haaland’s probable miss out on the Ballon d’Or glory. He said, “I was at two Argentina games and I watched Lionel Messi destroy Australia and you go okay great. I watched him actually miss a penalty against Poland you go okay great but that isn’t what a Ballon d’Or is about. It’s totally unjust for the Ballon d’Or to not land at Manchester City. It has to be, the club won a treble, it’s ridiculous, it’s ludicrous.”

Soccer analyst Ade Oladipo agreeing with Jennings responded by saying, “It seems that Messi is going to win another Ballon d’Or which I think is wrong. Haaland scored 50+ goals last season they won a treble. Messi didn’t even make it into Ligue 1’s team of the season. I know he had that World Cup, I get it right, but even you were there I mean they’re not playing.”
