Al Nassr demolished Al Taawoun 4-1, and Cristiano Ronaldo ended the year as the world’s top goal-scorer with 54 goals. Nevertheless, the stunning night has not fully satisfied all Al Nassr fans. The club’s faithful did not seem very happy about Al Nassr conceding a goal, albeit netting four in response. Meanwhile, Al Nassr’s star defender Aymeric Laporte was not happy with this attitude of the fans either. Apparently, the center-back gave slammed fans with a reality check demanding them to keep their eyes open to Al Nassr’s ‘unbelievable’ feats.

Aymeric Laporte has been having an impactful run with Al Nassr since he joined in August. After his arrival, the club has lost only once, boasting such a solid defensive core. Therefore, Laporte thinks the fans should overlook the team’s inability to maintain a clean sheet.

After the win against Al Taawoun, Aymeric Laporte spoke to the press and directly addressed Al Nassr fans. ” I want to talk to the Al Nassr fans and explain to them that we cannot get a clean sheet in every match. Today, for example, we received a penalty kick. For example, since I arrived at the club, we have lost only one match and won all the other matches. This is unbelievable,” the Spanish defender said. Even though Laporte failed to get a clean sheet, the defender went up front and hit the back of the net once for Al Alami.

Given how fabulous last night had panned out for Al Nassr and their key players, fans could have indeed overlooked the clean-sheet deficit. But what is alarming is the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo’s team has struggled throughout the season to maintain a clean sheet. Conceding goals easily could cost Al Nassr in crucial clashes.

Al Nassr struggles to maintain a clean sheet have been prevalent throughout the season

Al Nassr, sitting second in the Saudi League table, has played 19 matches this season. Out of these 19 matches, they only managed to keep a clean sheet in one match. Conceding goals on 18 other occasions is no good sign of a team that competes for the silverware. Al Nassr’s arch-rivals Al Hilal have not conceded a goal for a whopping 12 matches. That’s an impressive record.

Al Hilal’s defensive prowess is so impressive that they managed to keep the likes of Al Nassr’s Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Otavio from scoring. Instead, they slammed Al Nassr with three goals. Therefore, the struggle to keep clean sheets is affecting Al Nassr in crucial matches. While Laporte was right to overlook last night’s conceded goal, he or Al Nassr cannot do that in the long run.
