Saudi Arabian transfers have taken the soccer world by storm. Following Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr back in 2022, multiple stars across Europe have decided to ditch Champions League soccer. With the Middle East establishing its dominant presence across the transfer market has turned into which big name could be the next to follow Cristiano Ronaldo. However, it does not seem like everyone holds the same opinion, especially an ex-teammate of the Portuguese soccer legend.
Some players still wish to play in Europe, where the finest players in soccer take to the field. Ronaldo’s former Juventus teammate recently talked about a possible move to Saudi, as he outright declined any possibility to make a career switch motivated by money.

With numerous European stars moving to Saudi Arabia for big-money deals, some players have decided to take a stand. Juventus keeper Wojciech Szczesny recently spoke about the ongoing Saudi transfers, claiming money is not his priority, and that standing for Juventus between the posts is the best thing for him.

“I don’t read much about football, but I know a few players have been there and I’m not surprised. I understand that someone can make such a decision and it seems quite logical. But I think it’s worth having other priorities than chasing the money.”
At the moment, Wojciech Szczęsny remains among the minority of players who have outright declined a move to Saudi Arabia. However, the ongoing transfer window has seen some of Europe’s finest join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Manchester United to Al Nassr in 2022 came off as a big surprise. However, with every new transfer to Saudi Arabia, it seems like the Portuguese icon has once again paved the path for the players.

While it made sense for names such as Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, and Neymar Jr. to make a switch to a non-European competition. There have been names who still could have played at their peak across Europe. Names such as Milenkovic Savic, Marcelo Brozovic, and Ruben Neves, amongst others, are some of the top prospects denied moves to names such as Barcelona and Liverpool to move to Saudi Arabia.
While there is no denying that every player is entitled to their own opinion and a move to a club of their liking. Wojciech Szczesny’s statement comes off as a breath of fresh air for European soccer fans who still wish to see the top talents play Champions League soccer.
