It’s no secret that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is interested in owning the NHL team Ottawa Senators. The Ottawa Senators are currently on the search for a new owner after the passing of Eugene Melnyk back in March 2022.
It looks like more than fifteen parties are interested. Among them is also Ryan Reynolds who believes he can help the Senators reach new heights. These claims have been evident with Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC which has seen a surge in success since the Deadpool star along with Rob McElhenney became owners of the team in 2020.

Ryan Reynolds plans for Ottawa Senators
According to sources close to Reynolds, he plans to tell the story of the franchise and show it via a reality TV series. This is similar to the Approach Reynolds took when he made ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ showing the journey and the story of the acting duo running the soccer club.
The series was a big success and helped Wrexham gain mass attention and increased its popularity. Reynolds is looking to do the same if he ends up owning the Senators. If Reynolds is successful at his endeavor of owning the team, it could be a huge boost for the franchise.

Reynolds wants to be “A Frothy, Rabies-Infused Fan”
When discussing his intentions back in December, Reynolds made a hilarious statement about what kind of fan he would be if the purchase went through. “If we progress with the Ottawa Senators I will be a frothy, rabies-infused fan the likes of which the NHL has never seen... There’s not too much I can say about that now… But I have a real connection to Ottawa, to the community of Ottawa,” he said.

It’s clear that Reynolds is passionate about the Ottawa Senators and the city of Ottawa. His humorous remarks show that he’s also fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead in making this purchase. Though it may be a long shot, it’s certainly not impossible. With Reynolds’ passion and sense of humor, he just might be the perfect owner for the Senators.
