Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ex-Teammate, Who Was Likened to Brock Lesnar After WWE-Style Brawl, Claimed to Have Been ‘Protecting’ His Teammate

The Premier League matchday this weekend saw ex-teammates of Cristiano Ronaldo involved in a massive brawl resulting in sending off of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. A major scuffle broke out during the game between Manchester United and Crystal Palace on Saturday major scuffle break in the 65th minute after a heavy challenge on a United player.
Palace player shoved United’s Antony in the 65th minute, igniting the scuffle. Both sets of players did got involve, but Casemiro took it far. Casemiro grabbed the throat of the Palace player during the brawl that resulted in a straight red card for the player after VAR consultation.

Gabby Agbonhalor drew a comparison between Casemiro and Brock Lesnar. Meanwhile, the United manager thought the player was protecting his teammates. Although Erik Ten Haag accepted, the Brazilian crossed the line in the incident.
Erik Ten Hag claims Casemiro was protecting teammates
Erik Ten Haag, when asked about the incident post-match, said, “Casemiro is protecting our player and also protecting the player who wants to attack. He was holding him back. So he was protecting him. He doesn’t want to hurt the player.” However, the manager was not happy for the referee not punishing Jeffrey Schlupp for a foul on Antony.

There were many players involved in the brawl as per United’s manager. However, the referee just picked one player to punish with the card. He was also not happy with the intention of the Palace player, whose intention was to injure Antony. United recently lost Christian Eriksen to an injury from such a tackle. He thought the team showed togetherness during the brawl.

United will be without Casemiro for the next three games, and it will be a headache for the manager. The Brazilian has been in scintillating form this season after completing a big-money move from Real Madrid. It will be interesting to see how United copes with the absence of Casemiro, with Eriksen also sidelined with an injury.

Former Aston Villa player Gabriel Agbonhalor slammed the act of grabbing the throat by Casemiro. Agbonhalor, while speaking to talkSPORT after the game, said, “Casemiro thought he was Brock Lesnar back in the UFC. The way he was strangling Will Hughes, he should be arrested for that. Kids are watching that later on, on Match of the Day. Seeing Casemiro strangling an opponent.”
He feels United should also discipline the midfielder after the incident as he crossed the line. We know the Brazilian who played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid for his tackles from his La Liga days. Only time will tell whether the Brazilian learns his lesson from the incident or not once he is back from suspension.
