World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas gave it his all but couldn’t get a happy ending to his French Open 2021 journey as he lost a long battle against World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, in the final. Now as the tennis season has moved to the grass-court, Tsitsipas has withdrawn from ATP Halle Open 2021 which also has Roger Federer. Halle Open is one of the few grass court events before Wimbledon Championships 2021.
Tsitsipas played one of the toughest matches of his career against Djokovic in the Roland Garros final. And as the Halle tournament begins just a day after the final, Tsitsipas has withdrawn from it. The Greek player was the second seed and had received a wildcard to participate in the grass tournament.
Due to personal reason, #Tsitsipas has withdrawn from the Singles and Doubles Draw at the #NOVENTIOPEN. He will be replaced by Yannick Hanfmann in the Singles. Stefanos will now be replaced by Yannick Hanfmann in singles. He was also scheduled to play doubles with his brother Petros, and now that pairing will also not play. Instead of them, Yannick Hanfmann and Dominik Koepfer will join the draw.
Halle Open has a very peculiar draw. It features the defending champion and 10-time champ Roger Federer. Moreover, Roland Garros semifinalist, Alexander Zverev is the third seed, and headlining the draw is World No. 2, Daniil Medvedev.

Tsitsipas was obviously hurt by the French Open final loss. He was 2-0 up at one stage and once looked at completing a straight-set victory over Djokovic. However, Djokovic changed gears quickly, and caught the young Greek.
“I felt like my rhythm was off. I really don’t know why. It was very strange… suddenly I just felt cold and out of it. It was difficult to readjust. I lost my game a little bit,” Tsitsipas said.
