In the year 2020, Victoria Azarenka has just one match under her belt which was her defeat in the opening round of Monterrey Open. Previously, she pulled out from the Australian summer season due to some undisclosed reasons. While the circuit was called off, she participated at the Charleston exhibition.
Finally, her longer tennis-less layover will be coming to an end at The Top Seed Open in Lexington, USA.
The Belarusian ace has been drawn to open against five-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams. In turn, it accounts to be one of the popcorn matches of the event. Also, the victor of their match might potentially take on Serena Williams in their next match (provided Serena clears her round one test).

Before starting off the tournament in Kentucky, Azarenka mentioned losing motivation during the on-going pandemic and tennis’ suspension.
“I miss the competition. I don’t know if I have a new appreciation for tennis,” Victoria Azarenka told Tennis.com. “I feel like my love for tennis has never really gone away. Motivation is something that can go up and down, and it went down a lot.”
Presently the two-time Aussie Champion and Olympic bronze-medallist Azarenka is wearing a positive mindset and is ready with her best for the tournament in the US.

“I just want to do my best. I don’t want to have any expectations at all. Anytime I go on the court, I want to win, I give my 100 percent. But, right now I want to focus on things that have been working for me the last months or so and that joy that I have on the court,” she said.
