14th seed at Australian Open 2020 Sofia Kenin was definitely not one of the favorites entering into the tournament. As the versatile game of women’s tennis produces a new Grand Slam champion in every major event, Kenin’s victory wasn’t surprising.
Recent Slams on the women’s track have produced Grand Slam champions in their early twenties, including teenager Bianca Andreescu, who was victorious in New York, USA. Kenin being one of the young major winners addressed how the limelight has impacted her presence on the tour, after her major breakthrough.
“I obviously want to keep it going. I like all the attention and everything, but obviously it’s all different pressure, different expectations. And I hope I can somehow manage it, as I said, but, yeah, of course, I want to try to get deep in a tournament, I want to keep the momentum going,” she shared in Doha, Qatar this year.

Moscow-born American Kenin is not looking forward to being unbeatable on the WTA Tour. She is trying hard to keep up her game and work upon the loopholes in it.
“Of course fears, I don’t want to have like bad tournaments, drop, so obviously that’s in my head. But I try not to think about that because I’m playing well. So hopefully I can just at least maintain my level. I think it would be good enough,” World Number four Kenin added.
