Top seed Pliskova performed poorly in the opening set. She just slammed a single winner in the entire set and won a meager number of seven points on serve. In fact, she also exhibited a shabby play on the net.
In the second set, Garcia continued to dominate their encounter. She held the opening break by conformably capitalizing the break point and led by 2-0 in the set.
Pliskova was on the verge of her loss in the second set, however, she managed to bounce and regained her lost serve at 4-4. It marked her mini-comeback in the Round of 64 match at the US Open, but it was not enough to close out the set.
The battle further sailed into the tie-break and with one-way traffic on Caroline’s road, she stunned former Open finalist Karolina at US Open 2020.
