The tennis tour came to halt until at least 7th June due to the outbreak of coronavirus all over the world. Subsequently, the complete clay season was also cancelled. However, the ‘prince of clay’ Dominic Thiem is not much affected by the suspension of the clay season.
The COVID-19 continued to wreak havoc on the tennis fraternity. The initial six-week suspension of the tennis tour even before the first suspension was half-way through. However, the World No.3 feels that there are more things to worry about rather than the suspension of the tour.

“We all have to do our bit”: Dominic Thiem
After learning that the ATP Tour will not resume before 8th June, Thiem explained that the need of the hour is different and we should worry about fighting the coronavirus. The 26-year-old revealed that like everyone else, he is at home. He is certainly not training but is trying to keep himself fit during the pandemic.
“There are much more important things in our lives now and we all have to do our bit. Nevertheless, these are very drastic and dramatic measures for all players, but we must learn to deal with them,” Thiem said to Sky Sport Austria.

The Austrian star has also learned to adjust with the latest changes on the tennis calendar. It is still unclear how and when the tour resumes. However, Thiem will start preparing for the next upcoming grass season in the near future.
“It is a fate that we tennis professionals naturally share with the whole sports world. It’s not funny for anyone, especially if you don’t know what to do next. In this respect, we now have a target date. I will start preparing for the grass season in the near future,” he concluded.

The men’s tour is scheduled to restart on June 8th. During that week the Stuttgart Open in Germany and ‘s Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands are scheduled. Although there is yet to be a full guarantee that these events will go ahead as planned. However, the players need to be prepared to resume the season on the scheduled date.
