From the onset of 2016, the first that the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was held, Lewis Hamilton has managed to step on the podium only once at Baku. By winning the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton clinched what would become a rather surprise albeit last-minute victory much to the disappointment of his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, who failed to end his race.

But 2019 could be anybody’s race. The top contenders here at Baku, one wonders would obviously be Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel and the in-form Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, the Dutch having failed to ever stand on the podium.

On a track where it’s hard to overtake and even hard to hold onto the track position, with cars zooming past speeds of 300 k/hr easily, not an awful lot is in place for those who make errors. This, it mustn’t be forgotten, is an unsparingly hard street circuit. So what can Lewis Hamilton- also the 2019 driver’s standing leader- do at Baku, it ought to be asked?

Well, where his team principal Toto Wolff is concerned, it appears that his leading racer, Lewis Hamilton can win the 2019 Azerbaijan GP.

But how’s that? What has Toto Wolff shared on the matter of Lewis Hamilton’s possibility of winning and how can that be done?

Speaking on the context of both the drivers at his Mercedes team, Toto Wolff made no bones about the fact that the 2018 world champion Lewis Hamilton can nail the contest although, he may find some tough fight from his teammate, Valtteri Bottas.

Wolff was quoted as sharing, “Valtteri drove a strong race last year but a puncture denied him a well-deserved victory shortly before the end. He’s had a good start to this season and I’m sure he will be hungry to go for the points he didn’t get last year.

“Unlike last year, Lewis heads to Baku leading the Championship and will undoubtedly be looking to repeat his win from 2018.”
