Treyarch Studio Heads Open Up About Black Ops Cold War Development

Treyarch has been the go-to studio for Activision when it comes to Black Ops titles. The same held true when Activision decided to revive the series with Black Ops Cold War. It has been a week since the studio launched the game. Prior to that, players had the opportunity to try out a couple of test versions too.

Activision Blizzard recently posted a statement from Treyarch heads. Dan Bunting and Mark Gordon are both co-heads for Treyarch and were in charge of the Black Ops Cold War’s development. They talked about their journey of developing one of the most hyped games of 2020. They also talked about how COVID-19 impacted the whole process.

“Next generation of global combat”- Black Ops Cold War studio head

Dan Bunting chose to talk about the core values of Black Ops games over the years. He said the team focused on “the roots of where it all began with a mind-bending Campaign, action-packed Multiplayer, and an explosive new Zombies story.” 

Furthermore, he called Black Ops Cold War the “next generation of global combat” and expressed his excitement about the launch of the game.

His colleague and co-head, Mark Gordon, talked about how challenging this journey was. He mentioned how the team had to work remotely from home due to the pandemic.

Therefore, the studio had to manage and put in extra efforts so that they could ensure delivering the game on time.

This year, the pandemic required an extraordinary pivot to work from home, and we had to figure out how to develop a next-gen, cross-gen, and cross-platform AAA blockbuster game, on schedule – from home. How we were able to unite in the face of this challenge is a story that may only be overshadowed by our excitement to get our game into the hands of our players.”

Treyarch has been very dedicated throughout the journey. Moreover, now that the latest Call of Duty title is officially out, the studio is excited to hear from fans. Treyarch has already mentioned that it is keeping a close eye on feedback and promise to be quick in terms of any improvements that the game may need.
