Community calls out Activision for hypocrisy

Back in October, Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, took strict action against a hearthstone player. It banned a pro named Ng “Blitzchung” Wai Chung for supporting the protests in Hong Kong. It further banned users on its Twitch chat for the same.

Having come under immense scrutiny and backlash, Blizzard later apologized to its community. However, all it did was reduce Blitzchung’s ban from a year to six months. Moreover, they were careful not to mention Hong Kong or China. Many suspect they dared not do more given its ties to China.

And now, after the protests exploded in the USA following the death of Floyd, Activision Blizzard took to Twitter to express solidarity with the protestors.
