Novak Djokovic came out with a shocking proposal before the US Open 2020. He wanted to form a separate players’ association called the PTPA. However, veteran tennis star Kevin Anderson is against this idea, especially since a Players’ Council already exists. In a recent interview, he said,
“I personally believe that the two entities can’t coexist. I feel like there’s a lot that needs to be better. I’ve always said that. We’ve managed to accomplish a lot within the structure. “As the weeks go on, hopefully we’ll have a better understanding and idea to see what is exactly the PTPA. Obviously, there’s a lot of players within it, but how is it going to take that step representing players within the tour? We’ve got council members who represent players, board members. I’s definitely a bit of an unknown question.”

Anderson definitely wants to understand the PTPA better, but that is not his primary focus right now. Currently, he’s playing the 2020 French Open, and he has just come through a tough 5-setter against Dusan Lajovic.

After being sidelined due to injuries, he will be glad that he was able to go the distance. However, he is not out of the woods yet as he will face NextGen star Andrey Rublev in the third round. It will be a tough battle but the South African is a 2-time Grand Slam finalist for a reason. Hopefully, he will emerge victorious when he plays the Russian tomorrow.
