UFC fans had an amazing time watching the UFC 255 card. It comprised of some solid finishes, nail-biting full-length fights, and more. In the co-main event, Jennifer Maia took on Valentina Shevchenko, wherein she lost the fight via unanimous decision.

Ahead of the fight, many fans believed Maia wouldn’t even last a round, but to everyone’s surprise, she sustained the fight for five rounds. In the process, she even claimed the second round in a decisive fashion.

Post her loss, the Brazilian Mixed Martial took to Instagram and addressed her own performance.

Maia wrote, ”It was not this time! Even so, I am proud and I am happy to have arrived here among so many great athletes and to have the honor of this opportunity. I don’t want to prove that I am better than anyone, but that I am better than myself every day. The result does not always come out as we want, but I believe that with each result I learn more.”

“Thank you to all those who cheer with heart and know about our daily battle for a dream, as I always enter representing a whole country with great pride until the end. We continued until we achieved our goals.” 

The challenger took the loss on her chin. She performed substantially well to keep the champion, Valentina Shevchenko, on her toes throughout the fight. As a result of her setback, Maia’s UFC record stands at 3-3

What’s Next On Cards For Jennifer Maia?

Maia has a pro-MMA record of 18 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw. Despite her defeat at UFC 255, she still holds the number 2 spot in the women’s flyweight division.

The Brazilian fighter is an excellent grappler and held Shevchenko down in the second round. However, she couldn’t repeat that showing as the fight went deeper. Maia proved she can be a pliable opponent against the best in the world by taking the fight to judges’ scorecards.
