Katlyn Chookagian Reveals Preference for Her Next Fight Post UFC 262 Victory

UFC flyweight Katlyn Chookagian extended her win streak to two after beating Viviane Araujo at UFC 262. ‘Blonde Fighter’ rallied to pick up the unanimous decision victory, much to the dismay of Araujo who thought she did enough. Chiefly, the tenured former title challenger put forth her experience fighting at a high level to ensure the judges were convinced.
Katlyn Chookagian, who is the number two ranked flyweight in the world, sits only behind Jessica Andrade. Unfortunately, Chookagian is in the unfavorable position of being beaten soundly by both the champion ‘Bullet’ and Andrade. Barring these two women, ‘Blonde Fighter’ has managed to get the better of all the other contenders.

Katlyn Chookagian: Back on the grind
‘Blonde Fighter’ is stuck between a rock and a hard place as she has nowhere to go despite beating top competition. Valentina Shevchenko demolished her in their fight. Hence, Chookagian will have to keep fighting opponents ranked below her. However, it appears that she isn’t phased by this.

Following her win at UFC 262, she said, “I’ve been in this division since it opened. I’ve beat No. 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, so obviously I’ll fight anyone. But the one girl that’s in the top 10 that I haven’t fought is Alexa Grasso.”
“Everyone talks about how good her boxing is and when I watch that, I get a bit of a chip on my shoulder. I think I have the best boxing in the division, so that fight interests me, but I’ll fight anyone. I don’t care.” (h/t MMAJunkie.com)

Barring the ninth ranked Roxanne Modafferi, Chookagian has fought and beaten almost everyone in the top 10. Alexa Grasso is ranked number 10 and is the only match-up that potentially sparks some fan intrigue. Grasso, who showed tremendous improvement in her last fight against Maycee Barber, could be a major player at flyweight.
However you spin it, Katlyn Chookagian, who will have a long road back to the belt, will look to register her first UFC finish soon. Repairing this statistic with a show-stealing display could earn her another title shot.
