Conor McGregor has undoubtedly etched a niche for himself in the world of combat sports, thanks to his masterful art of trash-talking. It is no secret in the combat community that McGregor’s verbal prowess often serves as a trigger point for his opponents. In his pursuit to take on certain fighters, ‘Notorious’ employs his relentless trash-talking tactics and engages in mental warfare with them. McGregor appears to be following the same gameplay in his interactions with the Mexican boxing legend, Canelo Alvarez.

A lingering discourse has unfolded between Canelo Alvarez and Conor McGregor. The Irishman had often stated his desire of wanting to don the gloves and spar with the Mexican boxing maestro. However, Alvarez has steadfastly reiterated his disinterest in engaging McGregor within the squared circle.

Conor McGregor’s showdown with Floyd Mayweather marked one of the most significant crossover fights in history. Now 35 years old, McGregor has often teased a return to the boxing ring, yet such a comeback remains elusive. Nonetheless, he continues to field inquiries about potential matchups against the boxing world’s top stars.

Despite McGregor’s intention to fight again in the boxing arena, Alvarez seems to have no interest in facing the Irishman. He had often termed a fight with McGregor as a business perspective rather than a legacy. ‘Saul’ once hinted that he would one day have a bout with McGregor but the idea was far-fetched.

McGregor recently seems to have irked the Mexican legend. In his most recent escapade ‘MysticMac’ took to his X (formerly Twitter) to add a tweet about Alvarez’s fight with Floyd Mayweather. The tweet stated “ One of the greatest performances in Professional Boxing this was. I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo. I’d love another go.”

Alvarez retorted to McGregor, saying, “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches”. This clap-back did not sit well with McGregor, who responded in kind.

‘Mystic Mac’ added a follow-up tweet for the boxer. He wrote, “Saul you uncooked chicken, I’ll stomp the ligaments out of your knee joint. I don’t even need hands to end you, I’ll kick you raw pink, leave you looking like you were left out in the sun too long haha freckle a**e. I will see you and we will see. Canelo is a cornflake, no sugar.”

Despite entering the USADA pool, McGregor seems to have one eye in the squared circle. In his pursuit to return to the world of combat sports, McGregor seems open to options despite stating his focus on the UFC Octagon.

If we look at the past, it is clear that both of these legends never had any beef with each other. However, on one occasion Canelo Alvarez stated that he might fight Conor McGregor in the near future. While having a conversation about McGregor and his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather on DAZN boxing, Alvarez added, “Yeah, at some point maybe not now, because I got a mission. At some point, why not? But we’re talking about business, not legacy.”

McGregor also added a similar statement in one of his interviews. While having an interview with the Maclife, he added, “I’m a southpaw. [John] Ryder’s a southpaw. Billy Joe [Saunders] is a southpaw. I’ve seen methods. I’ve seen things I do. And I know he’s waning. I’d fight Canelo [Alvarez] no f***ing problem.”
