Boxers and UFC fighters settling it in the ring is quite common these days. Although crossover fights have existed for the longest time, it is only recently that these ‘super-fights’ have been making ‘super’ money. It all started when Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in 2017. Mayweather took home the win but McGregor’s purse that night was $130 million (reportedly).

Former UFC fighter and BMF champ Jorge Masvidal and YouTube turned boxer, Jake Paul were not always on good terms. The dissension between them was escalating to a point where people thought that the two would settle it within the ring. Negating every speculation, Paul’s next opponent was announced and it is the former UFC Lightweight fighter Nate Diaz.

Beef swells but in the end, all is well – Jorge Masvidal opens up on Jake Paul

Recently, a video went viral on social media where Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal were seen confronting each other in Miami. The tension between the two was palpable. However, it was later revealed that it was all a prank – a small clip from a larger video where the two are seen laughing and greeting each other.

Masvidal was then seen joining Jake Paul on his podcast, where the former BMF champ warned Paul about taking Diaz lightly.

In a recent interview with Chamatkar Sandhu on YouTube, Masvidal was asked by the interviewer about his current equation with Jake Paul.

No, good man! We just straightened out a couple of things. It was, you know… some, uh… some this and that back and forth, uh…”, started Masvidal.

Masvidal, who happens to be a good friend of Paul’s former opponent, Tyron Woodley, was rooting for him back in 2021 when the two were going at it. Paul took the win that night.

Woodley’s a good friend of mine and I was advocating for him hard. I was saying things like he’s gonna knock out Jake and Jake didn’t even like that so we, you know, we had some exchange of words and this and that and that and this but we got to talk in person, everything was good, it was all love, so… wish him well, you know?” clarified Masvidal.

No hard feelings towards him, towards Nate.”, summarized Masvidal, indicating that he had squashed his beef with both the fighters. “I want all these guys to go out there and make their money, you know?”, added Masvidal, sincerely.

Nate Diaz vs. Jake Paul – What we know so far and what can we expect

The Diaz vs. Paul fight is scheduled to take place on 5 August in Dallas. Naturally, the two have been hyping up the match and the beef between the two is real. However, it seems the origin of the fight lies within the UFC.

Apparently, Jake Paul made some disrespectful comments about former UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor and his wife, Dee Devlin. Diaz, who is looking to ‘whoop’ Jake Paul’s ‘a**’ in the ring, explicitly mentioned that he didn’t appreciate the disrespect and decided to step in and set things straight.

Although they were strong adversaries who had a sour relationship, the respect between McGregor and Diaz is real.

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s coach Javier Mendez has also voiced his opinion. He thinks people counting out Nate Diaz and his explosive fight style is not the smartest thing to do.

Jake Paul might have the age and size advantage but when it comes to brawling, cardio, and endurance, there are not many who can claim to be better than Nate Diaz.
