UFC 141 was home to one of the most iconic moments in the history of the promotion. Nate Diaz took on Donald Cerrone, and both fighters put on a ‘Fight of the Night’ performance. Meanwhile, the match made for an unforgettable moment where the Stockton native gestured defiantly at the ‘Cowboy.’

It was clear from the start of the pre-fight press conference that Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone had ill will towards one another. During the faceoff, Diaz notably took off Cerrone’s cowboy hat and pushed him. In one of the most replayed moments from their fight, Nate Diaz decided to show Cerrone the middle finger. It is still fresh in the fans’ minds. Now, after almost 12 years, Diaz has finally revealed what led to that situation.

During his recent appearance on the ‘Full Send’ podcast, the 38-year-old narrated what went down during his UFC 141 fight. He mentioned that before the fight, referee Herb Dean told both fighters to share whatever was on their mind before the fight started. However, Cerrone had no words to say but flipped Diaz off. The Stockton native said, “The ref said if you’re gonna say something, say something now… And he was just like, ‘F*** you! [showing middle finger].'”

This enraged Diaz, and he proceeded to take the fight to ‘Cowboy’ and dominated the first couple of rounds. He further said, “I was like, ‘That is rude and unprofessional’. We did the fight and then two rounds went by and I whipped his a** the whole time.”

As the third round was about to start, ‘Cowboy’ Cerone understood the challenge Nate Diaz brought to the table. Meanwhile, the Stockton native decided to pay back the favor and showed him the middle finger as they both looked at each other from their corners. “In the third round, ‘I got up and I’ve seen him looking like he was just having the worst time of his life. I was like, ‘F*** you! Look at you now,” said Nate Diaz. This was what Diaz had to share; now, let’s see what the fans thought about his explanation regarding the infamous incident.
