Jon Jones looked set to fight the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou at UFC 260. ‘The Predator’ finally claimed UFC gold by an emphatic knockout win. Jones was expected to clash against him in his much-anticipated heavyweight debut. But he has been involved in a spat with the UFC regarding payment issues.

The former light-heavyweight champion once again took to Twitter to express his opinion, drawing a comparison with NFL star Tom Brady and NBA legend LeBron James. “Ask other champions with way fewer championships to me if they would compete for those numbers. Especially in a Super Bowl like event. Ask Brady, ask LeBron?” he wrote.

The former UFC light-heavyweight champion deleted his tweet minutes after posting it. It will further add to the tension between him and the UFC. Jones wants to be compensated according to his worth. He is considered the greatest UFC fighter of all-time. So, it’s understandable he wants to be treated that way as well.

He also compared his payments with the likes of Deontay Wilder and Conor McGregor recently. Now ‘Bones’ brought other superstar athletes like Brady and James to the conversation. As an athlete, there is no doubt Jones resides alongside all those names at the same level.

But he is not satisfied with the UFC’s treatment of a great champion like him. But with the promotion also sticking to their guns, things are certain to take more interesting turns in the near future.

Issues regarding payment between fighters and the UFC are nothing new. Jones himself has been involved countless times against the company. But all those differences have been settled in the past. The promotion wants to hold onto their greatest fighter of all time. However, Jones wants to be paid like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brady, or the Los Angeles Lakers superstar James.

This is just yet another chapter adding to an endless saga. One can expect both parties to come to a resolution soon. However, the stances from both ‘Bones’ and the UFC have been much stricter than ever before. So, there might be some unexpected turn of events in the store.
