‘A Joke is a Joke’- Israel Adesanya Shares His Views on Cancel Culture

UFC middleweight Israel Adesanya recently took a stand on social media to emphasize the fact that jokes aren’t meant to be taken seriously. The perennial jokester in Adesanya finds himself in hot water from time to time for his flagrant jokes and takes. However, for the most part, fans have got an understanding of his personality and he gets over with most jokes.

Adesanya recently made a joke which he quickly found the need to defend on social media. ‘The Last Stylebender’ ended up sharing a follow-up video to provide clarity and context to his initial comments. For fans of Adesanya, his social media antics are well known to be tongue in cheek, however, the casual fan sometimes could misconstrue his intent.

Israel Adesanya: No jokes in the cage

While Adesanya is an affable presence outside the octagon, things take on a much more serious overtone inside the octagon. He’s undefeated as a middleweight and has started racking major title defenses under his belt. ‘The Last Stylebender’ most recently defeated Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 and retained his championship.

The biggest mark to his resume comes after the fact that he failed to capture a second title at light heavyweight. Jan Blachowicz managed to outwrestle ‘Izzy’ and made sure that his impact was felt throughout the fight. Very few fighters have been able to muscle Adesanya around the cage quite like the Polish 205-pound champ.

Israel Adesanya is on par to face former champion Robert Whittaker next in what would be an explosive showdown. Whittaker has made drastic improvements to his game ever since his defeat to Adesanya and he looks like a renewed fighter. It’s highly likely that Israel Adesanya could face his toughest test at middleweight in the rematch against ‘The Reaper’.

Moreover, there are plenty of exciting fights lined up for Adesanya as the middleweight division is chalked with talent. New names continue to emerge and grizzly veterans in the division like Derek Brunson are surging late in their career.
