After Joe Rogan, Roxanne Modafferi raises her voice

Gaines is now calling out famous female athletes to speak against women’s rights in sports. She already called out Ronda Rousey, Serena WilliamsVenus Williams, Caitlin Clark, and Angel Reese. On day four, she called out Allyson Felix. The Swimmer tweeted, “Each day for the next week I’m going to call on well-known female athletes to take a stance on this issue because silence is complicity…we need their voices. Day 4: @allysonfelix what do you think about males competing against women?”

As a reply to her tweet, Roxanne Modafferi tweeted, “I’ll go! I think consent is needed. I fought men in Jiujitsu tourneys before & everyone agreed it was exhibition, not as part of the tourney lineup. However, if I entered a National comp, I’d prefer to face only Xchrom females to win my gold. I might do exhibition but not be forced.” Similar to the former NCAA champion, Joe Rogan feels that women’s competitions should be strictly theirs. In an episode of JRE, the UFC commentator talked about transgender Lia Thomas competing in college athletics against women as an “assault on women’s sports”

Why is Riley Gaines calling on popular female athletes?

Gaines took a stand in response to a controversial incident where Adeline Johnson, a California senior, narrowly missed out on securing a place in the state championship. Johnson, who finished fourth in the varsity girls’ 1,600-meter finals during the CIF-North Coast Section Meet of Champions, was surpassed by transgender runner Athena Ryan.
