“Before I Was the World’s Champion, I Was Hers” – UFC Champion Jamahal Hill Mourns Devastating Loss

Jamahal Hill took the UFC world by surprise when he defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. Hill was ranked #7 in the light heavyweight rankings when the opportunity to become the champion came his way. Hill took the opportunity and produced a dominating performance against the seasoned Teixeira. Such was the impact of Hill’s performance that Teixeira had to announce his retirement after the fight. He was visibly bruised, and so were his spirits. Hill was really emotional when he became the champion and the same emotional side was seen again.

Jamahal Hill has now shared a very emotional message for someone he lost recently. Hill looked very emotional in his tribute.

Jamahal Hill posts heartfelt tribute

Hill posted an emotional tribute on Instagram. He shared a picture with his beloved ‘Auntie Nat’. The caption read, Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life!!! I had to lay to rest one of the closest ppl in the world to me!! There are very few people that I will ever have my heart the way my Auntie Nat did!!!

Hill’s caption further read, “I just want to say thank you, Thank you for the love, guidance, protection and strength you gave me!!! I am who I am today because of the way you loved me for me and that is a blessing I will carry to my last day!!! Before I was The world’s champion I was always hers!!!”

Hill may fight Magomed Ankalaev next

While Hill had called out Jiri Prochazka for his next fight after his win over Teixeira, Prochazka is currently unavailable to fight because of his injury. Prochazka was injured in a training session and has been recovering since. While Prochazka recovers, Hill thinks Magomed Ankalaev is a worthy opponent. In a recent interview, Jamahal Hill expressed his wish of taking on Ankalaev.

Ankalaev, on the other side, was not happy with the decision he got against Jan Blachowicz. Ankalaev thought the split-draw decision had robbed him of a win.
