Joe Rogan may have been wrong when he called Bobby Lee a “liar!” Having performed in the LA comedy scene in the past, the two go way back. And Rogan? He’s a big fan of Lee’s, so much so that he believes “Bobby Lee is one of the best comedians alive.” Because of their mutual respect, a reunion on the Joe Rogan Experience was something many were looking forward to. And in light of it finally happening, a resurfaced clip from 2022 highlighted Lee making his case that he, in fact, isn’t a liar.

In a 2022 appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast, Lee revealed a humorous and potentially ‘controversial’ take on the “liar” interaction between him and Rogan. It all started with Lee’s claims about being a grappler. But it came up when, much like Rogan, Lex Fridman expressed disbelief in Lee’s high school wrestling background. “That’s a surprising fact that you’ve dropped that it almost feels like a lie. It doesn’t make sense,” he said.

The comedian couldn’t help but bring up Rogan’s past interaction with him regarding the same subject! “Well, it’s funny that you say that, and I’m going to cause a little controversy here. Joe Rogan one time came to me years ago. He said, ‘You’re a liar, you’ve never grappled.’ And I go, ‘Yes, I did.’ He goes, ‘You’re a f**king liar. No, you didn’t.’”

During the light-hearted confrontation with Rogan, the comedian stated that he lacked photographic evidence to support his claims. However, he emphasized, “At that time, I didn’t have any photos to prove it. But if you look at my Instagram, I have photos.” Lee even showed Fridman a picture of himself donning a singlet. If only he’d had that picture when the UFC color commentator questioned the legitimacy of his claims.

The interaction showcased the camaraderie between the two comedians, turning humorous past allegations into a source of amusement for their fans! However, as good a sense of humor Lee has, he didn’t really appreciate Rogan’s (or anyone else’s) disbelief in his athletic abilities. “What people don’t realize is that I’m very athletic. And I resent the fact that people think I’m not.”

Joe Rogan may not have believed Bobby Lee all those years ago, and while the actor’s wrestling past was something they couldn’t agree on, Lee’s experiences in Hollywood sure resonated with the UFC color commentator’s sentiment about all things California.

Hollywood and happy memories don’t go together for Joe Rogan and Bobby Lee

Back in 2020, when Joe Rogan signed his deal with Spotify, he promptly left California behind in his rearview mirror. Since moving to Austin, Texas, he hasn’t looked back. So, when Bobby Lee took Rogan through a few of his worst Hollywood experiences on JRE #2090, the UFC color commentator couldn’t help but share the sentiment.

Having had a successful career as an actor, Bobby Lee revealed that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Recalling a rather brutal experience, he said, “One time, I f**ked up on a line. [The director] made the whole [crew] form a circle. They put me in the middle of the circle, and he goes, ‘Point your finger.’ And they all pointed their finger at me, and he goes, ‘Repeat after me. You’re the worst actor on planet Earth.’ They all did that, and tears welled up in my eyes.”

Listening to that memory, Rogan opened up about how much he didn’t like living in California compared to Texas. “Listen, man, [Austin is] a great place to live. It’s a great place tax-wise, it’s a great place traffic-wise, it’s a great place. The most important thing: people-wise. The people here are so friendly. They’re not sh*theads. They are not Hollywood people.”
