“…But Don’t Claim Katie Taylor”: Fans Have Tongue-in-Cheek Reactions to Conor McGregor Being Called a UK Fighter by UFC Analyst Laura Sanko

Conor McGregor never shied away from representing his country on every other occasion. The Dubliner never fails to flaunt the flag of the Republic of Ireland before and after his UFC matches. But a renowned journalist seemed to gloss over that fact. And she included him in a list of British fighters, such as Paddy Pimblett. It shocked even UFC legend Daniel Cormier to see her confuse the Irishman with being British. But this silly mistake brought forth an interesting conversation among the Irish.
Surprisingly, most of his countrymen do not want McGregor to represent Ireland. Rather, they were happy to let him go and be amongst the Britishers. Some fans were too harsh on the former dual-division champion and denounced him of his Irish nationality.

Maybe ‘The Notorious’ is British after all
