Charles Oliveira Reveals One Condition on Which He Will Change UFC Weight Class

UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, reached the pinnacle of the sport after a decade of struggle. The Brazilian finally captured UFC gold after 28 fights in the promotion. He put on a phenomenal performance in order to knock out Michael Chandler at UFC 262.
However, it was not so long ago that ‘Do Bronx’ was struggling at the featherweight division of the UFC. Difficulties making weight and losses to top contenders like Max Holloway left his career almost jeopardized. But his persistence eventually helped him to reach the top. Many believe his days at the 145 lbs division of the UFC are behind him.
However, Oliveira is still confident he can go back to featherweight and make weight. But he is willing to do so in only one condition. If the UFC gives him the chance to fight for the belt right away, then he will consider doing the extra work to become a two-division UFC champion.

Speaking to Combate, Oliveira said, “If I have the opportunity to fight directly for the title, giving me time to do that, I would do well, Today I have a good nutritionist, a good team that will help me with this and make it happen. But only if it was straight for the title.” (Translated by mmamania.com).
Fighters going up a weight class to become two-division champions have become a trend in the UFC. But Oliveira will be the second fighter after T.J. Dillashaw if he moves down a weight class to do so.

If the UFC indeed sets up a fight between Oliveira and the featherweight champion, remains to be seen. The current champion, Alexander Volkanovski, is set to defend his throne against Brian Ortega next. Maybe something can develop after that.
