It was a debut match for both the heavyweight fighters. The French fighter looked confident in his first UFC match. He dominated the fight right after the start bell. Pessoa tried to retaliate. However, he lost his UFC debut bout via an arm-triangle choke at the end of the first round.

Second submission win in the UFC
In his second UFC fight, Gane faced Don’Tale Mayes on October 26th, 2019, at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs Askren. Both the fighters exchanged heavy strikes right after the first belt. However, the round came to the end with both the fighters still on their feet.
Gane’s speed is outstanding inside the octagon and it is a significant advantage over his opponent. Mayes couldn’t retaliate to Gane’s strikes.
Gane scored a takedown in the third round of the round and found an opportunity to convert it into a heel hook, forcing Mayes to tap out with just 13 seconds left in the fight.
Ciryl Gane’s First KO Win in the UFC
Gane faced the former heavyweight champion, Junior Dos Santos, at UFC 256. The French native was on an amazing 6-fight win streak when he squared off against the former champion inside the octagon.
Gane looked sharp in the first round of the bout. He controlled the fight with his quick strikes throughout the rounds. Santos couldn’t retaliate to Gane’s heavy blows.
The French fighter hit Santos with a lethal right elbow, followed by vicious punches, flattening him to the mat.
Santos claimed it was an illegal blow from Gane, as it was behind the head. However, it was ruled a legal blow. For Santos, this decision marked his defeat in his last UFC fight. Meanwhile, Gane continued his win streak.
