UFC 298 ͏was harsh for the former ͏dual-weight champion͏, Henry Cejudo. ‘Triple C’ fought Merab Dvalishvili in a high-stakes match, but it did not turn out well for the Olympic gold medalis͏t as Dvalishvili dominated Cejudo for the majority of the match. Cejudo had asserted that he would walk away from the Octagon if he did not win,͏ but it seems like it won’t be happening.
Ahead of their fated bout, Cejudo, through various interviews, made it clear that he would hang his gloves up if Dvalishvili defeated him at UFC 298. However, ‘Triple C’ seems to be taking a complete U-turn on his word. In a recent YouTube video on his channel, Cejudo asserted that he would not be leaving the UFC just yet. “I just cannot let it roll like this, as much as it hurts. Again, guys, I take the L. But I cannot take the L knowing the way that I pretty much went out,” said Cejudo.

He further added, “For that reason, I cannot go out like that. So I’m here today, ladies and gentlemen, taking my word back as a man, confronting you guys—the people, my fans, my family, my friends, the haters—that I just cannot go out like this. Guys, to say the least, it is far from over with the ‘Triple C.’ “
According to Cejudo, he has more to give to the sport and the competitor in him refuses to go out on a loss.͏ However, the MMA community seems to have some not-so-pleasant opinions about Cejudo going back on his word.
Henry Cejudo’s plan of action is not sitting well with the fans
Henry Cejudo lost the bout against Merab Dvalishvili by way of a unanimous decision. The Phoenix, Arizona fighter is on a two-fight losing streak since coming out of retirement last year. Cejudo’s first retirement came after his win against Dominick Cruz back in 2020. After winning the bout, ‘Triple C’ claimed that he ͏was content with his career and would like to take retirement. However, according to Dana White, it was a bad decision. In his recent statement, White asserted͏ that Cejudo lost his prime years because of this decision.
The MMA community seems to have some diverging opinions about Cejudo’s remark about his retirement. Some of the comments by the fans are as follows:-
