In the Instagram video, Sonnen went on to give a very clear take on the situation. He started off by saying, “Does the UFC need Conor McGregor? That is where the reality starts to be a little bit cold. There can be two truths that seem polar opposites that are accurate at the same time. For example, the UFC need Conor McGregor? No.”
The ‘Gangster’ went on to highlight how the UFC did well without McGregor’s star power, while also highlighting McGregor’s impact on events. He stated, “Well, they haven’t had Conor a meaningful period of time. In fact, I can’t remember where, but I think it was two years. They sold out event after event after event. But it’s also true to understand red panty night is real.”
