Dricus Du Plessis has called out Israel Adesanya after winning his fight against Sean Strickland at UFC 297. Du Plessis faced Sean Strickland for the middleweight title at the main pay-per-view event of the year. While ‘ Tarzan’ was the favorite to win, ‘Stillknocks’ surprised the fans and managed to get the victory. 

In his recent podcast, Joe Rogan reacted to an old video of Dricus Du Plessis and Adesanya sparring and shared his thoughts on it. The pair has had a bit of history, and it will be interesting to see whether they face off against each other next.

56-year-old Rogan seemed as excited as everyone for the much-awaited clash at UFC 297. His guests included Eddie Bravo, Joey Diaz, and Brendan Schaub. A resurfaced video has gathered a lot of attention, showing a young Du Plessis sparring against Israel Adesanya. Rogan, after watching the resurfaced video, shared his opinion on the matter.

He said: “Well, it means something, you know. But it doesn’t mean everything. But let me tell you something, dude, if Sean Strickland loses tonight and Dricus wins, Adesanya comes back to fight Dricus. (Reading) ‘Dricus Du Plessis insists he ‘manhandled ‘ Israel Adesanya in sparring as a 19-year-old and denies UFC middleweight rival’s claim that he was ‘messed up’ in stand-up battle’… So he said he f…kd him up when he was nineteen.”

Adesanya is the former middleweight champion and has yet to return to the Octagon after his loss at UFC 293. However, ‘ The Last Stylebender’ recently hinted at a possible comeback after staying away from the Octagon for a long time. But whom will the former champion face on his return?

When will Israel Adesanya return to the Octagon? 

Israel Adesanya is one of the biggest names in the UFC, and the fans are waiting desperately to see him in action. His last fight came against Sean Strickland at UFC 293, and he lost the title to ‘ Tarzan’ via decision. Since then, the former champion has yet to return to the action. Adesanya was previously scheduled to take on Du Plessis in Sydney in September. However, the fight could not happen after ‘Stillknocks’ suffered an injury. 

Du Plessis is now the current middleweight champion and has called out ‘The Last Stylebender’ for a fight at UFC 300. Adesanya recently took to his Instagram account to answer the call out with a humbling response. ‘The Last Stylebender’ has never backed away from any challenge and will look to retain the title he lost soon.
