Joe Rogan has indeed helped many personalities reach the level of fame they desired. Gordon Ryan was no different. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu savant recently thanked the beloved UFC commentator and podcaster for helping him amass enough followers in order to let his rival finally acknowledge him. Ryan appeared in the latest episode of MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. However, his ‘10 to 1’ odds scheme for the rematch against his rival was what caught everyone’s attention.

The 55-year-old podcaster held the BJJ 1st degree black belt in high light, given his enthusiasm for the sport. However, the world was shocked when he became the official sponsor for Ryan’s Abu Dhabi Combat Club. Furthermore, this simple act might get Ryan one more step closer to his rematch with Dillon Danis.

BJJ star thanks Joe Rogan for the fame

In the latest episode of The MMA Hour, host Ariel Helwani enquired Gordon Ryan about his rematch against Conor McGregor’s teammate, Dillon Danis. The two grappled back in 2017 in ADCC. Although the battle was really close, Ryan won by a unanimous decision. However, their rematch was anticipated by many fans.

As Helwani asked about the rematch, Ryan didn’t deny that Danis was previously avoiding him due to his lesser followers. Even though the grappler provided him his signature ‘10 to 1’ odds, where he puts forth ten times the amount of money the opposing party has put, Danis was nowhere close to acknowledging him.

He revealed, “Like you put up whatever amount you want, and I’ll put up ten times that amount… And he just like changes the subject or ignores that and you know whatever the case it.”

Finally, Ryan revealed that he might have a chance at a rematch. He said, “But now, I have some- Now between ADCC and [Joe] Rogan and you know, doing some things and you know, I keep winning. Now my Instagram followers are probably almost big enough for him to publicly acknowledge me.”

Furthermore, he added, “Because before, he wouldn’t acknowledge me because he knew that if he did, I’d, I would just get a lot of his followers. But now, I’m like approaching, approaching like you know, 800,000. I’m not too far off his, off his count. So now I think I’m getting famous enough for he can actually acknowledge me. So, maybe we can do a match, eventually.”

Joe Rogan’s sponsorship for ADCC

It is not unknown to the world that the JRE host was truly in love with grappling. Rogan previously took his love and showed it off to the world as he became the official sponsor for the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament, besides Ryan being the number one contender.

Ryan took to Instagram to share his happiness. He wrote, “Happy to announce my new sponsor for ADCC. [He is] a brand and a friend I stand behind, no matter how many times he’s canceled. Thanks for being a real dude on and off camera and giving voices to people who would otherwise have none. JRE will also be an official sponsor of [ADCC] this year.”

Nonetheless, the BJJ savant’s enthusiasm for fighting Danis once again has been put in the minds of the combat sports fans. The rematch is guaranteed to be one of the many matches that Rogan would enjoy with the rest of the world.
