Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones took to social media and conducted a fan Q&A on Twitter. Chiefly, this is the second time this week that ‘Bones’ has reached out to his fans. Jon Jones has a massive profile in MMA and fans want to know what he’s up to in his life and career.
While responding to a couple of fans’ sentiments on haters and detractors, Jon Jones had an interesting take on the matter. Jones has been a polarizing figure for the latter half of his career, and this has brought forth many detractors. However, he has clearly gotten used to being judged and scrutinized.
As long as you have haters, people studying your every day life and criticizing you. You’re on the right track. When they stop caring is when it’s a problem.. They’ll always care, I’m just that guy https://t.co/gYYh2W0OWz

If dealing with haters is the worst part about getting to live my life. So be it.. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve ever been disrespected face-to-face. People that are happy with themselves very rarely come out and attack others. Haters usually attack from behind https://t.co/e1IMZrb2b2

Right from failed drug tests to a hit-and-run accident, Jones has taken the heat for several transgressions in his career. While the aforementioned incidents seem to be a thing of the past, they haven’t truly been removed from his career narrative. Based on Jones’ tweets on his detractors though, it appears that he uses them as fuel to chase greatness.

‘Bones’ hasn’t competed under the bright lights of the UFC since February 2020. In the 15 months since UFC 247, the entire landscape of the sport has changed, but Jones still hasn’t returned to fight. Many fans would have assumed that after relinquishing his belt last year, Jones would have made his heavyweight bow.
However, Jones’ battles over contract negotiations with the UFC brass from 2020 have continued well into 2021. A fight against Francis Ngannou, which seemed like a lock at one point, is now a conversation of the past. Consequently, the UFC has moved past Jones and is looking to book Derrick Lewis against Francis Ngannou.
