As reported by ABC7 News, a couple, Matt and his wife, with their 6-month-old child, were out for a walk in San Francisco when they were suddenly attacked by two women on a scooter. The women side-swiped the couple and began physically assaulting them, with one attacking Matt and the other attacking his wife. Matt’s wife suffered a severe injury, including a fracture in her eye, and is at risk of losing her vision.

The attack has traumatized the couple, who have been victims of crime before in the city, and they are calling on city leaders to improve public safety and combat crime. They are even considering moving away from the city.

The UFC veteran wrote, “As a man it’s your duty to always protect your girl. If you allow two women to beat you up you have majorly failed. This is sad but also embarrassing”

A user asked Shields in response to his tweet how to handle a situation where the attacker is a woman. To this, the 44-year-old replied that the gender of the attacker should be the least of anyone’s concerns when their family’s protection is at stake.

He emphasized that when it comes to protecting loved ones, gender is irrelevant. And he would not hesitate to take action, regardless of the attacker’s gender.

“If two big girls are full on punching my girl for no reason I’m knocking them the f**k out. His wife might lose her eye”, wrote the 44-year-old.

Shields emphasizes the need for men to take charge in situations where their family’s safety is at risk. Moreover, he states that men should not delegate responsibility to others or shy away from confrontations.
