‘I Don’t Think It Was a Great Main Event’- Marvin Vettori Slams Kevin Holland for his Loss Against Derek Brunson

UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori spoke to the media ahead of his main event booking at UFC on ABC 2. ‘The Italian Dream’ takes on Kevin Holland, who stepped in on short notice in place of Darren Till. Chiefly, ‘Trailblazer’ is coming off a recent defeat to Derek Brunson in what was the last Fight Night offering from the UFC.
Marvin Vettori is sure to get into it with Holland once the cage door closes behind them. However, heading into the fight itself, Vettori doesn’t seem to make much of Holland’s skill set. Moreover, he was certainly not impressed with his opponent’s most recent performance against Brunson, who was a step-up in competition.

Vettori was one of many who felt that ‘The Trailblazer’ left plenty to be desired in his outing against divisional veteran, Derek Brunson. Holland caught a lot of flak for the way he performed and for his constant trash-talking during the fight. What’s more, the Italian fighter was confident that Holland’s skill set wouldn’t be nuanced enough when facing him.
In a chat with TSN, he said, “Kevin Holland is wild, so I feel like he goes into a fight without knowing what he’s going to do. So if he doesn’t know, then it’s kind of hard to guess what he’s going to do…I’m prepared for whatever happens in there. Some of the skills that you’ve got to train is also the ability to adjust and be able to deal with these kinds of things.”

Holland was manhandled on the ground and suffered takedown after takedown. He even resorted to asking ‘The Eagle’ Khabib Nurmagomedov for help, and ‘The Italian Dream’ will look to use the same wrestling heavy game plan to secure yet another UFC win.
“He [Holland] showed massive holes [against Brunson]… one guy was strictly wrestling, the other guy was strictly striking… I don’t think it was a great main event and I’ll prove Saturday night that I’m on a different level.”
