Colby Covington shook up the MMA community with his appearance at the UFC 286 weigh-ins and more so after getting seemingly pushed to a title contender spot. And although his loud-mouth tactics seemed to have done him good so far, it appears that it has got him the attention of another top contender in the form of Khamzat Chimaev. ‘Chaos’, while speaking to the media, had jibed at ‘Borz‘ for missing weight in his last fight, even calling out his unprofessionalism.
Responding to this remark, the Chechen-born fighter uploaded a video on his YouTube channel, calling out the American for previously having backed out from a fight. Chimaev also expressed his strong desire to fight anyone that was willing to step up in front of him despite the weight class. Notably, this comes after UFC president Dana White claimed that Covington would get a title shot while Chimaev might have to move up a division for his next fight.

Khamzat Chimaev responds to Colby Covington’s latest remarks
Covington went on a tirade during the UFC 286 presser as he blasted Chimaev for missing weight at UFC 279. Accusing him of acting unprofessionally, the 35-year-old had a few choices of words for ‘Borz’. This naturally didn’t sit too well with Chimaev as he came out with a response on his YouTube channel.

Claiming that he and the former interim champ were already supposed to fight, he accused Covington of backing out from the bout multiple times.
“Colby is lying he doesn’t want to fight. I swear with everything I have.” stated the third-ranked welterweight.
Chimaev even disclosed he had a few conversations with UFC executive Sean Shelby, which ultimately failed to materialize.
“I get four times call we’re gonna fight, I say yes. I have conversation with Sean Shelby… so we’re gonna fight with this guy but it’s never happened,” he revealed.
Showing the same killer intent that he always carries, Chimaev claimed he was willing to face any name inside the cage regardless of weight class.
“For me, weight class doesn’t matter if somebody wants to fight. If UFC calls me fight Brock Lesnar I [will] fight with him.”
Covington expected to face Leon Edwards for the 175 lbs title
What seemed to have triggered fans and certain fighters was Dana White‘s disclosure that Covington was the man in line for a title shot in the Welterweight division. And Chimaev might have found himself certainly disappointed considering that he’s ranked third and had worked his way up in the rankings.

Interestingly, the UFC president had also suggested that ‘Borz’ would go up to middleweight for his next fight. And considering that he had missed weight by a huge margin, this decision didn’t come as a huge shocker.
